July 9th - Lazy, but still kicking

I am still alive. I have just been lazy doing updates and playing poker these summer days. Some of my friends are on holiday from work, so we have upped the fun and games this month.

There is no vacation pay when it comes to poker. Being your own boss has its merits for sure, but it is hard to keep a good work schedule when I don't have to work and there is always a party to go to.

Despite my laziness I have been doing good this month. I've been playing on Party Poker and Full Tilt and the games have been juicy. I assume some of the regulars are out grinding in Las Vegas, with the World Series going, so my theory is that the pro vs. casual player at the tables is a bit off for the time being.

I am up about $3.500 so far this month. I would like to make that $5.000 so I guess that'll be my goal for now. But if the cards keep coming and the games stay juicy, the sky is the limit.

July 2nd - Doing good.

June is over and I made a killing online since I got back form Vegas. I ended up $5.750, so I've made the money the trip cost me back, with some leftovers.

I have been playing good most of these last days and running good as well. I hope to keep doing well in the months to come, so I can back into being a $5/$10 regular and pushing my way back into $10/$20.

I don't know what goal to set myself for July yet, but I'll think of something before too long.

June 28th - Back home.

I got back home to Faroe Islands a couple of days ago. I know I had big plans for giving a running update in Las Vegas, but I decided to drop then when I got acquainted with the wretched internet connections offered by hotels.

My trip set me back about $5.000 and I hoped to win some of that back playing live games in Vegas. Unfortunately I ended up just a few hundred dollars.
The trip was a blast and I enjoyed every day. I also learned a great deal about live poker, not the least of which that I don't play it nearly as well as I do the online variant.

I have still got a few days left of June and I plan to make up the rest of the $5.000 online. Hopefully using whatever I picked up playing 100 hours of live cash games and a newfound energy to build on my game online.

Thanks for all the comments.

June 7th - An update from Sin City

Monthly goal: To pay for my trip to Las Vegas
I am at -$500
Change: -$500

I finally got around to making an update here in Vegas. These last three days have been a blast and it is hard to settle down long enough for an update. I guess it would be much harder still to recount them without making the entry too long.

In short I dropped a couple of buy-ins at $2/$5 at the Rio. The cardroom is crowded and it seems to be very disorganized.
After two days and $1.000 down I decided to step back a bit and find a new venue and a new game. I picked $1/$2 at the MGM Grand and took a taxi to the strip. Eight hours later I left up $700 and very pleasantly surprised at the good service of the well run cardroom.

At this time of writing I am short about $500 from the origional roll I brought to Vegas, but that is counting food and all other stuff except hotel room and airfare.

Today I think I'll try to catch a movie at the Palms, or find a good show somewhere in Vegas before I start grinding again.

June 1st - Ready to leave.

Monthly goal: $5.000
I am at $2.235
Change: $393

I am leaving today and am starting to get excited about the trip. I have been playing some hands since my last update, but luck wasn't on my side.

AA in the Big Blind: Here is what I mean when I say luck wasn't on my side.
The chat in the hand history is about my opponent guessing at my hand before he folded, when there was still another person to act behind him a couple of hands earlier.

The bus for the airport is leaving in about 4 hours and I still have some ends to tie up. I was at a friends house yesterday playing Arkham Horror and I forgot my cell phone. So I am meeting him at work today to pick it up. That and some more packing and I am ready to go.

I think I have a seat in a poker game in Denmark later tonight, so looking forward to playing live cash games again. It certainly has been awhile.

I don't know when I'll be able to do my next update, but odds are it'll be in Las Vegas.
